Set in Hollywood during the late 1920s, Singin’ in the Rain takes place at the moment when the film industry is making the difficult transition from silent movies to “talkies.” Silent film star Don Lockwood seems to have everything going for him—fame, fortune, and a glamorous screen partnership with the beautiful but self-absorbed Lina Lamont. When talking pictures suddenly become the new trend, the studio scrambles to convert Don and Lina’s latest silent film into a musical.
